Title: Principal Engineer (Rail)
Description: Principal Engineer (Rail) 55 60k Suffolk and Surrey This fast growing successful multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy working throughout the UK are involved in a broad range of projects. Their dedication to their staff is evident and they have a great reputation for the delivery of some truly ground breaking schemes. As they continue to grow they are seeking to strengthen their dedicated rail team with the appointment of a Principal Engineer either to be based in Suffolk or Surrey, with relocation assistance offered in both locations. The Rail team undertakes an interesting variety of work on Network Rail infrastructure both direct for Network Rail and for contractors, as well as for outside parties. Recent projects include platform extensions, bridges, station buildings, retaining walls, culverts, drainage works, temporary works, heavy duty paving, both new build and the repair of existing structures. For your part it is hoped that you will have experience in leading design teams in the design of railway structures, highway or other civil engineering structures will be required. An ability to design railway structures to Eurocodes, British Standards and railway group standards. This must have entailed the interpretation of client requirements, project definition and management, production and checking of calculations, structural analysis, preparation of sketches for and working with technicians, and the preparation of accompanying documents. An ability to lead others and in the inspection of civil engineering structures on site. Prior experience of carrying out inspection work will be required. An ability to interpret engineering defects to existing structures and to produce technical reports to a high standard. Experience in managing and providing mentoring to more junior employees. You will responsible for managing client expectations, attending project meetings with external parties and managing project commercial activities. You will have a thorough understanding of engineering principles and be a graduate engineer with a relevant professional qualification.
