Title: Rail Engineer
Description: RAIL CIVIL ENGINEER BIRMINGHAM 48 - 50,000 Our client has a worldwide reputation for providing excellence in the transportation field, including rail engineering consultancy and advisory services through teams based in over 35 offices globally. Their portfolio is an envious one with a wide range of projects across the county. As they continue to expand and develop their rail civil engineering offering they are seeking to make this key appointment to join their highly skilled team of Engineers. They are seeking to appoint a chartered civil engineer who is familiar with network rail standards and procedures, also experienced in delivering rail civil engineering designs to work with them on some of their prestigious projects. The role will involve taking responsibility for the running of the clients civil and rail projects. This may include working on a range of civil engineering rail projects, ranging from new stations, platform extension to multi-disciplinary rail systems projects and civil engineering structures with opportunities for short or medium term assignments to their other offices in the UK or overseas. Additionally you will be reporting to the project manager (PM) and or principal engineer. Your responsibility will include interpreting and delivering clients brief, Design and technical content of projects, Determining budget and programme work, identifying resource requirements for the project and managing those resources within budget and also responsibility for client liaison. For your part you will have the essential academic, professional qualifications and considerable and proven experience. You will be a successful rail civil engineer who has technical capability and familiarity with current industry standards and software applications, and who provides the ability to clearly communicate technical detail to a non-technical audience, e.g. during meetings with clients. The ability to communicate requirements to staff above and below, e.g. to ensure staff understand what is required of them and propensity to coach and mentor enthusiastic and inquisitive junior engineering staff. You will also need a BEng & MSc or MEng in civil engineering with further MICE, MIStructE or acceptable equivalent or nearly chartered status. It is expected that you will have experience of railways bridge and infrastructure design and assessment and experience in civil infrastructure design. Also the ability to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel to produce project related documents, and able to use Robot, LUSAS, staad, SAM, Tedds and AutoCAD/Revit to view and print drawings also demonstrate up-to-date working experience of Network Rail Group and Company standards.
