Title: Head of Geotechnical Engineering
Description: Our client`s Land Services Division is seeking a Geo technical Lead / Technical Director to further develop the Geo technical business across the UK, as well as taking responsibility for managing the relationship with key clients, contributing to business development, raising the division's profile and supporting the development of others. You will be responsible for providing strategic direction to establish and expand the company’s geo technical design and engineering offer whilst delivering profitable business growth. For your part you will have a strong background with local and central government markets, and extensive experience of acting as technical lead for clients on varied and complex projects. The role is client facing and the individual will need to be flexible, adaptive and confident engaging with customers and have proven skills in effective communication and negotiation. You will play a central role in business development across Land Services to help deliver profitable growth as well as providing support and coaching to develop other members of the team. Principal Accountabilities • Provide technical direction in Geotechnics in the key areas of: • Project Delivery (programme/budget/quality/compliance) • Business Development • Expert technical and strategic advice • Staff mentoring, training and skills development • Apply efficient business management practices including proactive management of future workload (medium and long term), reporting through a combination of forecasting, pipeline order book and resourcing tools. • Work closely with and provide expert professional advice to clients; building relationships and raising the profile of the companys business. • Identify business development opportunities and develop such offerings by leading bid initiatives and driving recruitment and team development • Champion the companys corporate health & safety, environment and quality standards • Work may require travel in the UK or abroad. For your part you will hold a degree in engineering / relevant Post graduate qualification and have relevant practical experience of management, design development and delivery of a range of geotechnical projects. Additionally be able to demonstrate good commercial awareness, excellent communication and client liaison skills. Preferably a track record in work winning, client relationship management and bid writing and the ability to develop and deliver a strategy for the broader Geotechnical Engineering offering of the group.
