Title: Geotechnical Design Manager
Description: GEO -TECHNICAL DESIGN MANAGER BIRMINGHAM 65,000 Continued growth with this highly successful multi-disciplinary consultancy has lead to the need for an experienced Geo technical Lead, who could be Midlands based, or in the North West. The role will be focused on providing the geo technical design support on complex infrastructure projects, with contract values in excess of 10M. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the design and delivery of such projects through various procurement routes. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that the individual is comfortable working on complex and challenging infrastructure schemes within a fast-paced, professional environment and is able to manage stakeholder expectations to the benefit of the scheme. In addition to having excellent earthworks and geo technical design experience, the individual will have a deep technical interest in the interface between these elements and associated bridge, highway structures, rail and drainage designs. Thereby, being willing to understand cross-discipline input to provide fully integrated, commercial design solutions from feasibility through to construction. It is also important that the individual is driven by a genuine desire to identify the optimum design solutions to complex engineering problems and is able to take a pragmatic approach to the application of specialist advice to achieve specific project outcomes. As such, the successful candidate will be both technically and commercially astute with a good understanding of cost, programme, contractual and build ability issues associated with large infrastructure schemes. You will be joining a highly successful team of Engineers who work across the country on some significant and exciting projects with some high profile clients. Our client require you to be enthusiastic, approachable and possess strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels internally and particularly with external design team members and clients. Having previous experience of communicating with clients and other stakeholders on a face to face basis is essential and a key part of this role. The preparation of clear and concise technical reports and presentations is vital, as well as the ability to communicate complex engineering issues to a non-technical audience. You will have strong geo technical analytical skills including HD22/08 for highway works and be interested in developing your understanding of other disciplines associated with the design and construction of major infrastructure projects.
