Principal Consultant – Development Planning

£65,000 plus benefits
This unique opportunity has presented itself with one of the UK`s leading transport specialists who continue to thrive and grow their Development Planning offering. Birmingham based you will play a key part in expanding the group`s Development Planning Team whilst working closely with other offices.
They currently enjoy some notable schemes across the country and offer a diverse project portfolio which will see you working with some high profile clients and a great platform to build on.
Working as part of a team providing solutions to both private and public sector clients you will have a desire to grow this dynamic team of like- minded individuals.
Your role will involve:-
- Supporting their transport planning offer across the company both in the UK and internationally.
- Lead work streams within projects with limited supervision, ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently.
- Deliver high quality highway and transport advice as part of multi-disciplinary teams across a range of transport related projects including major developments, highway related regeneration projects and sustainable transport initiatives.
- Deliver excellent joined-up and high-profile major development projects in the UK, which contribute to the company’s reputation for delivering excellence.
- Manage multi-disciplinary projects, sub-consultants and support staff assigned on a project basis as required.
- Lead the company`s inputs at pre-application meetings, design team meetings and public consultation events.
- Be proactive, show initiative and take responsibility to deliver key tasks with a range of projects.
- Prepare and present reports, proposals, briefing notes and transport planning documentation.
- Manage clients on a day-to-day basis, and associated project budgets exercising effective financial and budgetary control.
- Win work and contribute to the production and delivery of proposals and marketing materials related to their market area from time to time.
- Assist in general business development initiatives and on-the-job training of junior staff.
- Take part in training to develop both your technical and consultancy skills.
It is expected that you will already be enjoying a similar role with a consultancy environment and be well versed in the sector and able to win and deliver work for planning applications and major events.
Additionally take responsibility for key tasks, work streams and deliverables, managing multiple deadlines in parallel. Demonstrate strong analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Show clear client relationship management and proven business development capabilities
