This leading transportation specialist with extensive reach across the UK are enjoying much success and a thriving workload which has led to this key appointment.
As their newly appointed offices accommodate a large team of Planners they are keen to appoint an Associate Director to provide leadership and technical expertise, including staff management and development, client management, project delivery and assisting with leading the financial performance of the business unit.
Reporting directly to the Director of the business unit, the role will be to lead project delivery and manage a team on a day-to-day basis, leading by example while demonstrating the company`s core values.
There will be some expectation of participating in business development activities to secure work and support the delivery of the three key areas of the Business Plan, including People, Clients and Business.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management and Development
- Responsible for the management and development of staff, including Line Management duties, ensuring effective communication of business matters.
- Undertake Performance and Development Reviews (PDR) for staff in accordance with the company`s guidelines and policy.
- Responsible for staff in training associated with obtaining professional qualifications.
- Where required, implement performance management and personal development programmes for staff in liaison with the Director and Operations Manager.
- Ensure all staff understand their responsibilities relating to health & safety and that the company policy is communicated and understood.
- Assist with the recruitment of staff, where required.
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Responsible for and lead by example with proactive and effective client communication on projects and business development activities for the business unit.
- Assist with the delivery of the Business Plan to secure new work and repeat business.
Project Delivery
- Responsibility for delivery of allocated projects on time and within budget in accordance with ISO policies and processes.
- Act as an exemplar Project Manager where still appropriate, including delivery to required timescales, monitoring and developing financial performance on projects, and ensuring the submission of monthly invoices within the required timescales.
- Act as Project Director where appropriate, ensuring that relevant Project Managers are fulfilling their responsibilities and that the technical quality of all project work meets clients’ expectations.
- Mentoring and supporting the development of staff and Project Managers.
- Responsible for the management and development of staff, including Line Management duties, ensuring effective communication of business matters.

- Contribute towards the leadership of business development and work winning across the company`s range of services, in accordance with annual targets agreed as part of the PDR process, including an agreed value of work winning generation.
Financial Performance
- Understanding the financial system relating to allocated projects, and the cost implications to the business, assuming responsibility for these and assisting with the leading of its implementation in the business unit.
- Responsible for contributing towards the financial performance of the business unit and annual financial targets, including revenue generation and profitability, and an agreed value of work winning.

Health & Safety
- Understand and assist with the implementation of the company`s Health & Safety Policy.
- Lead on safety by example and assisting with ensuring appropriate health & safety procedures are in place for the respective office.
- Ensure completion of required Risk Assessments for staff.
